Wychwood School | Eco School

Eco School

The Wychwood Eco-Schools project is part of a nationally co-ordinated project that we joined in 2007.  It aims to achieve a better world by guiding young people of all ages in their understanding of their environment.

The project has three award levels (Bronze, Silver and Green Flag) which indicate that the school community has progressed towards becoming more environmentally friendly.

Our enthusiastic action team includes 15 girls, three staff, the bursar and facilities manager as well as a parent volunteer. They are currently aiming for the silver award level having completed a very extensive environmental review of our school and written an action plan for the future.

Around the school there are many posters reminding the whole community about recycling paper, saving electricity and water, closing windows and taking care of the living world.  We are also involved in many ongoing projects such as changing the toilets to water saving dual flush, replacing light bulbs with energy saving ones and recycling wood and other building materials
