Red Tears

Mrs J Cotterill, part time teacher of English (who writes under the name Joanna Kenrick), has written the teenage novel “Red Tears”, published this year by Faber and Faber.

“Red Tears” is the story of a fifteen –year-old girl called Emily.  She’s a normal, bright, happy girl with a close group of friends – but everything starts to go wrong at the same time.  Her younger brother starts secondary school and it’s clear he has undiagnosed learning difficulties; her friends suddenly stop speaking to her; it’s Year 11, a time of tremendous academic pressure.  Any one of those things Emily would be able to cope with, but the cumulative effect pushes her over the edge and into depression and cutting.
