Economics & Business Studies
Economics and Business Studies is offered only at A level. Students should take an interest in current economic issues, national and international business news, want to learn how to analyse information effectively and be able to suggest solutions to real problems affecting businesses, the economy and individuals.
They will learn to analyse and present the merits of alternative courses of action which will give them a background in economics and business.

The course uses a variety of teaching techniques, participative activities such as simulations, case studies, data response, business and economic games, seminars and conferences as well as teacher-led lessons. Students will be given a clear indication of the objectives of each topic as they are covered with a syllabus, reading list and assessment tasks such as essays and data-response questions. Students are set work each week that will comprise note-taking, essay preparation, background reading, research and the completion of data response exercises. Students will be expected to undertake additional reading and to show initiative in study. A full record of attendance and involvement are essential.
