Wychwood School | Biology GCSE

BIOLOGY  (AQA)

In the Science GCSE, humans and environmental biology dominate. In Biology we will build on this base and extend your knowledge to include other organisms as well as humans, making it more interesting

This course is useful for any student wishing to study a science or geography at Advanced level. It will also help you to understand more fully many aspects of your own physical health and development. You will gain useful information about many issues covered daily by the media, including environmental protection, genetic engineering, fertility issues and transplantation.  A basic understanding of such material can make you more able to make informed decisions in later life.

Assessment will be by written papers. There will also be a centre-assessed, written, investigative skills assignment to test your practical skills.

Whilst it is interesting, relevant and fun, students should be aware that they will need to learn a great deal of new vocabulary and have to remember many facts, as well as learning to apply information to new situations.

Please note that there is no compulsory dissection required in the course.
